Great Boss and Weight Loss

I’ve had many jobs over the years and what I appreciate most (even more than the earnings or awards) is the opportunity to work with great people. At times that came in the form of partners or peers and I always tried to hire greatness. But the people I’m most grateful for are the people who hired me and mentored me.

After this brief mention of some of the great leaders covered in this article, I will give you a powerful perspective on weight loss. So if you’re looking for a perfect body image, weight loss or are just always looking for another weight loss tip, please read on. We hope the comments from Around Our Best Boss inspire you to keep going on your weight loss journey.

Andy was my first sales manager. Andy inspires me to win the Scripps Howard Regional Award, circa 1975. ‘I win because I run’ – was my motto. In fact, I believe I made more sales because of one simple dynamic – I ran between houses. It gave me more people to sell to and when I got there I was breathing faster so I had more energy in my pitch. I win because I run.

Coaches Sam Visely, John Dean, Bobby Gray and Vince Seltnicks. Soccer Coach: High school and college. These people inspired, guided and demanded of me physically in a way that no one else has. Thank you for pushing the envelope and providing the reference points I rely on daily. I know I was probably hurting but we won a lot of games and I hope you have positive memories of my contribution. JD RIP.

Cathy, Sales Manager Real Estate Trainers. He got me started in California and inspired me to earn my California Real Estate Brokers License and my NASD Series 7 – Full Stockbroker Registration. I didn’t want to use either of these in a commercial sense, but it allowed me to achieve more selling in those markets and it gave me a stronger business perspective. Many apologies to this class as I do not remember his last name.

Roy Clarke. Proprietor, Shree Associates. As a young recruiter this man forced me to be uncomfortable in my sales efforts. I hated it and I’m grateful.

Dino Farfante / Bob Brennan. Both VP Sales, Maricel. Premium leadership that focused its teams on customer intimacy and operational excellence. These 2 were and still are classics – both running successful companies (one in a billion) today.

Greg Wilkes. Sales Director, US Robotics. He was a big reason why USR was the best company I ever worked for. They were on the gas pedal, they had 64% marketshare and would work all day to get another quarter point. His talent, coupled with his passion for the client, is unsurpassed in my experience. Casey Cowell was a great CEO.

Mike Pickett, President Maricel. More competitive than anyone I know.

Bob Lepore, Vice President, Ingram Micro. Bob has a unique approach to things. Pragmatic and forthright, yet plays his cards for the long haul. A fine man and a high quality business executive.

Jer Stead. CEO, Ingram Micro. I wish more leaders would recognize the value of people.

Simon Worth. CEO QAS, Inc. started the company and sold it to Experian after we were together. A refreshingly (that’s putting it mildly) candid guy that I would love to be my best friend. He was someone I could walk through any door with because his approach was so pure and straightforward, however demanding.

Dick Bosworth and David Tallarico, Sales Director and Vice President Sales, Kofax. I refer to them as hand-to-hand because they worked hand-to-hand. If you’ve ever been in sales, you know life is always better when you’re in the triple digits – when you’re hitting your numbers and getting over 100%. These people were practitioners who knew how to get there. Combined, they may have over 50 years of experience selling enterprise solutions to large companies.

I am grateful for the opportunity to work with each of these individuals and the positive impact they have had on my life. When it comes to weight loss, you need a positive influence on your life. The idea of empowerment means holding onto a compelling vision of your own future. If you see yourself, the new you, how you are going to look after losing weight, you will be very excited. The vision of the new will inspire, motivate and yes, empower you to make small, daily changes in your life.

Let Vision empower you!
