The injury occurred during the main event of AAA’s Guerra de Titanes on December 20, 2025, in Guadalajara, Mexico. Dominik teamed with El Grande Americano against his father Rey Mysterio and Rey Fenix, reportedly hurting his shoulder after taking a DDT from Rey. He finished the match but was visibly limited afterward and pulled from subsequent WWE holiday live events as a precaution.
WWE officially addressed the issue on the December 29 episode of Monday Night Raw, where Liv Morgan noted in a backstage segment that “Daddy Dom” would be out “for a little bit,” and commentator Joe Tessitore later confirmed he was sidelined “indefinitely” due to the shoulder problem. However, the latest reports from reliable sources like Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer paint a much brighter picture. “Dominik Mysterio, he found out he does not need surgery,” Meltzer shared. “What I was told today is they’re looking at three to four weeks… He should be back for the Rumble.” The 2026 Royal Rumble is scheduled for January 31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, aligning perfectly with that timeframe.
