Brennan Ward taking a look at transfer to middleweight after Bellator …


UNCASVILLE, Conn. – After 4 and a part years clear of the game, Brennan Ward’s go back in February was once a a success one.

Ward took out Brandon Bell with a TKO 32 seconds into the second one spherical at Bellator 274 for his first win since November 2016. Friday, Ward (15-6 MMA, 10-6 BMMA) takes on Kassius Kayne (12-7 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) at Bellator 282 and hopes to select proper again up the place he left off a couple of months in the past – once you have a long-term contract from Bellator.

“It feels excellent to be again,” Ward instructed MMA Junkie at Wednesday’s media day. “It best felt proper if I used to be going to signal a freelance to be with Bellator. I do know a pair folks sought after me to roughly check out with different promotions and spot if I may just get in different promotions. I in point of fact didn’t even give that a lot idea.

Ward’s struggle with Bell in February was once at 175 kilos. The struggle towards Kayne is at welterweight. But he’s reasonably adamant he needs to transport to middleweight after this struggle.

Middleweight is the department wherein Ward gained a Bellator match in 2013, then challenged then-champion Alexander Shlemenko for the name. So he’s masses accustomed to 185 kilos.

“I make 170 beautiful simple, however I don’t adore it. I don’t like chopping. I’ve were given to struggle at 185,” he mentioned.
