Hyundai Launches Prime HB & Prime SD Fleet Models Based On Nios, Aura

Affordable Fleet Push: Hyundai India Launches Prime HB Hatchback and Prime SD Sedan for Taxi Operators

Hyundai Motor India has officially entered the competitive commercial fleet segment with the launch of the Prime HB (hatchback) and Prime SD (sedan) models on December 30, 2025. These dedicated taxi variants are based on the popular Grand i10 Nios and Aura, respectively, offering stripped-down yet practical specifications tailored for high-mileage fleet and taxi use.

Priced aggressively to challenge Maruti Suzuki’s dominant Tour series, the Prime HB starts at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom, select cities), while the Prime SD begins at Rs 6.89 lakh (pan-India). Bookings are open nationwide for Rs 5,000 at Hyundai dealerships.

Both models are powered by the reliable 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine with factory-fitted CNG and a 5-speed manual transmission. Hyundai claims impressive efficiency: 27.32 km/kg for the Prime HB and 28.40 km/kg for the Prime SD in CNG mode. A company-fitted speed limiter caps top speed at 80 kmph for regulatory compliance, with estimated maintenance costs as low as 47 paise per km.

Standard features prioritize safety and comfort for passengers and drivers:

  • 6 airbags
  • Rear AC vents
  • All four power windows
  • Front Type-C charging port
  • Rear parking sensors
  • 3-point seatbelts for all seats

Optional accessories include a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, rear camera, and a vehicle tracking system with four panic buttons.

Hyundai supports owners with an extended warranty up to 5 years/1,80,000 km, flexible financing up to 72 months, and dedicated Fleet Care Advisors at dealerships. Available in three colors: Atlas White, Typhoon Silver, and Abyss Black.

This move revives Hyundai’s earlier Prime taxi lineup (discontinued post-Xcent era) and positions it against Maruti’s Tour H3 (WagonR-based) and Tour S (Dzire-based). With rising demand for affordable, eco-friendly fleet options amid urban mobility growth, these CNG-focused models aim to attract individual operators and large fleets.

For global readers, Hyundai’s India-specific fleet strategy highlights the massive taxi market there—dominated by budget CNG vehicles—while leveraging proven platforms like Nios and Aura for reliability and low ownership costs.

Hyundai’s Prime HB and Prime SD fleet launches mark a strategic entry into India’s booming commercial segment, blending affordability, efficiency, and safety for taxi operators eyeing higher earnings in 2026.
