In an effort to improve security on the platform, Instagram has also recently launched a feature called Security Checkups which gives users more control over their privacy.

Facebook-owned instant messaging platform Instagram has announced a new feature called Sensitive Content Control for iPhone users. This new feature allows users over the age of 18 to choose whether they want to view more or less sensitive content. The feature will allow users to choose between three levels of permission / disapproval of sensitive content on the platform. Announcing the feature, Instagram said it was giving users more control over the photos and videos they viewed on their Exploration page. “We believe that Instagram should be shaping the experience that people want,” the company said.

The new sensitive content control feature is available under Instagram’s settings page Account > Sensitive content control. The feature allows users to choose between three options – “Allow”, “Limit” or “Limit even more.” With “Allow”, users can view more photos and videos that may be upsetting or offensive. “Limits” will limit offensive or offensive content, while “Limits Still” will show users very sensitive posts on their Explore tab. “This new feature gives you control over sensitive content. That said, you can decide to leave things as they are or adjust sensitive content controls to see some or all of the sensitive content.

Instagram said there is one exception to this new feature – people under the age of 18 will not be shown the “Allow” option. In an effort to improve security on the platform, Instagram has also recently launched a feature called Security Checkups which gives users more control over their privacy.
