Legrand Unveils 2025-2027 Global CSR Roadmap – Commitment to Sustainability and Innovation Continues History of Positive Impact in North America
West Hartford, Conn., April 3, 2025 – Legrand, a global leader in electrical and digital building infrastructures, has launched its sixth consecutive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Roadmap, detailing ambitious goals for 2025-2027. Announced today via a press release from Legrand North & Central America, the roadmap builds on two decades of CSR progress, reinforcing the company’s dedication to sustainability, innovation, and social responsibility. With operations spanning residential, commercial, and data center markets, Legrand aims to drive meaningful change across its global footprint, with a strong emphasis on its positive impact in North America.
A Vision for a Sustainable Future
Legrand’s 2025-2027 CSR Roadmap, unveiled at a virtual investor event on March 25 hosted by CEO Benoît Coquart, EVP of CSR Virginie Gatin, and CFO Franck Lemery, outlines a strategy structured around five key pillars: Diversity & Inclusion, Climate, Circular Economy, Customers, and Responsible Company. “How we work is just as important as what we work on,” said Brian DiBella, President and CEO of Legrand, North and Central America. “Our vision of ‘improving lives’ includes building a sustainable future for all. This roadmap showcases our global commitment to leading by example and driving impact across our operations and value chain.”
The initiative follows Legrand’s 113% achievement rate of its 2022-2024 CSR goals, a testament to its 20-year CSR legacy that began in 2004. With a “Gold” EcoVadis sustainability rating (top 5% of 150,000 companies) and an “A” CDP climate score, Legrand is doubling down on its 2030 ambitions, including net-zero emissions by 2050.
Key Goals for 2025-2027
The roadmap sets concrete targets to advance sustainability and innovation:
- Mitigating Climate Change: Reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 10% by 2027 from 2024 levels and cut supplier-related Scope 3 emissions by 30% across 70% of purchased goods emissions. This aligns with Legrand’s Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitment to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
- Circular Economy: Achieve 50% of new or redesigned product projects meeting eco-design criteria and use over one-third sustainable materials, including recycled content, in manufacturing.
- Diversity & Inclusion: Reach 35% women in management roles (Hay Grade 14 and above, up from 30% in 2024) and offer 4,000 annual opportunities to early-career talent.
- Customer Impact: Help customers avoid 20 million tons of CO2 emissions over three years through energy-efficient solutions and aim for an 80% customer satisfaction rate (CSAT) with a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 50.
- Responsible Business: Reduce workplace accidents by 20% (including temporary workers) from 2024, ensure 90% of employees receive 10 hours of training by 2027, and enforce 100% compliance with human rights and ethics policies among key suppliers.
These goals build on North American successes, like securing commitments from 139 suppliers to cut CO2 emissions by 30% by 2030—totaling 157,728 kilotons—highlighted in the press release.
A Legacy of Impact in North America
Legrand’s North and Central American operations, headquartered in West Hartford, have long been a cornerstone of its CSR efforts. The region accounts for 40.5% of Legrand’s €8.6 billion in 2024 global sales, per the company’s annual report. Recent achievements include integrating energy-efficient solutions like the Encelium lighting controls into 20% of its datacenter-focused portfolio and earning GEEIS-Diversity certification for workplace inclusion.
“Our achievements here are the result of countless dedicated team members working toward a common goal of improving lives,” DiBella added. Posts on X reflect enthusiasm, with one user noting, “Legrand’s CSR roadmap is a big step for sustainability in North America—real targets, real impact.”
Innovation Meets Responsibility
Legrand’s roadmap ties directly to its business model, leveraging innovation to meet societal needs. Acquisitions like Circul’R (a French circular economy firm) in December 2024 and Power Bus Way (a North American datacenter specialist) underscore its growth strategy, while new offerings—like energy transition solutions—drive its 2025 sales growth target of 6-10%. “Sustainability isn’t separate from profit—it’s how we grow,” Coquart said at the March event, a sentiment echoed by the roadmap’s integration into Legrand’s 2030 financial ambitions.
As Trump’s U.S. tariffs loom, potentially hiking costs for imported components, Legrand’s focus on local supplier sustainability and eco-design could cushion the blow, though analysts note broader trade risks remain.
A Global Benchmark
With a presence in nearly 90 countries and a CAC 40 listing, Legrand positions itself as a benchmark for responsible innovation. The 2025-2027 roadmap not only advances its net-zero pledge but also deepens its North American legacy—balancing profit with purpose in a region where its solutions light homes, power offices, and connect data hubs. As DiBella put it, “We’re proving that doing good and doing well go hand in hand,” a mantra now guiding Legrand into the next three years.
