brief history

Originally founded in 1915 as the Kansas City Polytechnic Institute, the college underwent several name changes. Until 2005 it was known as Longueville Community College, and in 2005 it was renamed Metropolitan Community College-Longueville.

Five campuses are operated by MCC. The main center is located in Lee’s Summit, while others are the Penn Valley Campus in Kansas City, the Maple Woods Campus in Kansas City, the Blue River Campus in Independence, and the College of Business and Technology located in Kansas City. There are 5 divisions Humanities on campus; Mathematics, Engineering and Physics, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Technology and Business.

Entry

MCC-Longview follows a policy of open admission. For specific programs students can apply either online or on the college campus. Either United States citizenship or the lawful presence of a non-US citizen is required for admission. Documents, transcripts, and other certificates must be submitted to the college’s records office. On completion of the placement test, students have to attend counseling sessions before selecting the classes. Online enrollment facility is provided in the Student Centre.

Student Services and Financial Aid

Metropolitan Community College-Longview offers remedial services, academic and career counseling, PT cost reduction employment, and career placement and campus day care services. Comprehensive graduate morning or evening classes are also available. Financial aid includes federal, state, local and institutional grants, scholarships and student loan assistance. Other grants available are Pell Grants, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, and Academic Competitiveness Grants. President’s Scholarship is awarded to deserving students.
