Initiated by the Tata Education and Development Trust, these scholarships cover tuition fees for undergraduate programs of up to eight semesters’ duration. For programs such as Architecture that exceed that period, additional costs are to be managed by the student himself. In addition, the Trust supports a total of 20 students studying at Cornell at a time. Applications for the scholarship open each year in the month of October/November, around the time of college applications, while final selections are announced in December.

3. Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship

Commonwealth Scholarship Commission provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to students coming from Commonwealth countries like India, who wish to pursue Master’s and Ph.D. Program in UK.

To be eligible, the candidate must be an Indian citizen and must have completed education in English medium. Also, the candidate must have secured at least 65% marks in Science, Technology, Engineering and Agriculture or 60% in Social Sciences and Humanities. The same criteria apply to Ph.D. Candidate too.

Further, the Ministry of Human Resource Development shortlists the applicants on the basis of preliminary interview. The scholarship amount covers tuition fee, economy return airfare and living expenses.

Scholarship applications open in August every year before the next year’s course starts. Having said that, the commission does not have a fixed number of seats; Eligible candidates are shortlisted for the scholarship.

4. Chevening Scholarship

These scholarships are provided by the UK government to help Indian students and professionals complete a one-year master’s program in the country and take up leadership roles in the future.
