Job Summary:
CGS Federal is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Director of eDiscovery to lead our eDiscovery practice. This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the eDiscovery lifecycle for high-stakes, complex federal litigation matters. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert with a proven track record of managing large teams, innovating processes, driving business growth, and serving as a trusted advisor to federal government clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Practice Management: Provide overall strategic direction and oversight for the eDiscovery practice. Develop and implement best practices, standardized workflows, and quality control measures for the entire EDRM (Electronic Discovery Reference Model) lifecycle.
  • Project Management: Directly manage multiple, concurrent large-scale eDiscovery projects from initial case assessment through production and trial. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Client Advisory Services: Serve as a senior trusted advisor to federal agency clients. Consult on case strategy, technology-assisted review (TAR), data preservation, collection methodologies, and complex production requirements.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a large team of eDiscovery project managers, analysts, and technical specialists. Foster a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Financial Management: Manage the practice’s P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost-saving efficiencies.
  • Business Development: Collaborate with business development and sales teams to identify new opportunities, prepare proposals, and present capabilities to potential and existing federal clients.
  • Technology & Innovation: Evaluate, recommend, and implement cutting-edge eDiscovery technology platforms and tools (e.g., Relativity, Disco, Everlaw). Stay abreast of emerging trends, case law, and federal rules affecting eDiscovery.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships and contracts with key technology vendors and external service providers.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure all work product meets the highest standards of quality and complies with all federal guidelines and security protocols.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD or Master’s degree in a related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in eDiscovery, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership or director-level role managing a team.
  • Extensive experience directly supporting federal government agencies on complex litigation matters.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with the entire EDRM and leading eDiscovery platforms (e.g., Relativity Certified Administrator or equivalent certification is a significant plus).
  • Proven experience with Technology-Assisted Review (TAR) and other advanced analytics.
  • Demonstrated success in managing practice P&L and contributing to business development.
  • Exceptional client-facing communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of federal rules and regulations pertaining to eDiscovery (FRCP, FOIA, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) or other relevant certifications (CEDS, PMP).
  • Experience in digital forensics and data collection.
  • Existing relationships within the federal government litigation support community.
