In a deeply disturbing incident that has shocked India, a 6-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and murdered in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh, on January 2, 2026. The child, who lived in the same building as the accused, was reportedly lured while playing, assaulted on the rooftop, and then thrown from the third floor to conceal the crime. She was rushed to a hospital but declared dead on arrival.
Police acted swiftly on a complaint from the girl’s father, registering a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The two accused—identified as tenants named Raju and Veeru Kashyap—were arrested following a police encounter in which both sustained leg injuries from gunfire.
Authorities confirmed sexual assault via post-mortem, and the suspects are in custody as investigations continue. The incident has sparked outrage over child safety, with calls for stricter enforcement of laws against sexual violence.
This tragedy highlights the persistent issue of crimes against minors in India, renewing demands for faster justice and better community protection. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this unimaginable grief.
