Dangote Refinery Launches Nationwide Petrol, Diesel Distribution with Free Logistics in 2025

Dangote Refinery to Distribute Petrol, Diesel Nationwide with Free Logistics Starting August 2025

June 16, 2025 – Dangote Petroleum Refinery, Africa’s largest single-train refinery, has announced a transformative initiative to begin nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel starting August 15, 2025. The program, aimed at marketers, petrol dealers, manufacturers, telecom firms, aviation, and other large users across Nigeria, includes free logistics support to enhance accessibility and affordability, according to a statement from Voice of Nigeria and Business Insider Africa.

To facilitate this, Dangote has invested in 4,000 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers, supported by over 100 CNG stations, ensuring seamless delivery. The refinery also offers a credit facility: buyers purchasing 500,000 liters will receive an additional 500,000 liters on credit for two weeks, backed by a bank guarantee. This move is part of Dangote’s commitment to reducing logistics costs, easing inflationary pressures, and supporting Nigeria’s economic growth.

Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, emphasized the refinery’s role in slashing fuel prices, noting a diesel price drop from N1,700 to N1,100 per liter since production began, with further reductions expected. The 650,000-barrel-per-day facility, currently at 85% capacity, aims to meet Nigeria’s entire fuel demand and export surplus. However, marketers, including IPMAN, have urged Dangote to lower petrol prices to N750 per liter, citing high costs compared to regional markets.

Posts on X reflect excitement, with users like @kusssman calling the logistics strategy “world-class.” The initiative follows Dangote’s partnerships with Optima Energy, MRS Nigeria, and others to strengthen distribution. As Nigeria transitions from fuel imports, this program could reshape the energy sector.
