Harvey Weinstein to Face Third Trial in New York for Sexual Assault Charge
Manhattan prosecutors have confirmed that Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood producer, will face a third trial in New York following a mistrial on a rape charge in June 2025. The trial’s challenges include juror misconduct allegations, with Weinstein’s lawyer, Arthur Aidala, claiming “gross jury misconduct” after a foreperson reported feeling threatened during deliberations. Weinstein’s 2020 New York conviction was overturned in 2024 due to prejudicial judicial rulings, prompting the retrial. He also faces a 16-year sentence from a 2022 Los Angeles conviction, which he is appealing, and a new 2006 sexual assault charge in New York, consolidated into the upcoming trial.
