House censures Rep. Al Green for heckling Trump speech

Rep. Al Inexperienced (D-TX) shouts out as U.S. President Donald Trump addresses a joint session of Congress on the U.S. Capitol on March 04, 2025 in Washington, DC.

The Home of Representatives voted Thursday to censure Texas Democratic Rep. Al Inexperienced for heckling President Donald Trump throughout the president’s speech to Congress earlier this week.

The vote to censure Inexperienced was 224–198.

Ten of the lawmaker’s fellow Democrats joined Republicans in voting to formally specific disapproval for conduct, which consisted of Home Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., studying the censure out loud to Inexperienced as he stood within the nicely of the Home chamber.

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus sang the civil rights protest music “We Shall Overcome” as Johnson completed, spurring a handful of Republicans to yell “order!”

“Disgrace on you!” Reps. Ayanna Pressley and Joyce Beatty yelled at GOP representatives.

Johnson ordered Inexperienced ejected from the Home chamber on Tuesday night time after the Texan loudly interrupted Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress and refused to take a seat down.

Fewer than 30 members of the Home have been censured.

Inexperienced on Wednesday stated he would “undergo the results” for heckling Trump.

“However honestly, I’d do it once more,” he stated on the time.
