Israel under attack, missile escapes the defense system and affects the center of Tel Aviv

On June 13, 2025, Iran launched a massive missile attack on Israel, firing over 200 ballistic missiles in retaliation for Israeli strikes on its nuclear facilities and military targets earlier that day. Several missiles evaded Israel’s multilayered defense systems, including the Iron Dome, Arrow, and David’s Sling, and impacted the Tel Aviv area, causing damage and injuries. Magen David Adom reported five people wounded in the Tel Aviv region, with one in moderate condition and four lightly injured by shrapnel. At least seven impact sites were identified, with damage to buildings reported. Explosions were heard across Tel Aviv, and sirens blared, sending residents to bomb shelters. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed the attack targeted military and defense sites with precision, though some missiles struck civilian areas. The U.S. assisted in intercepting missiles, but the scale of the barrage overwhelmed parts of the defense system. Posts on X described Tel Aviv as a “ghost town” during the attack, reflecting widespread panic.

This follows a pattern of escalating attacks, including a Houthi missile strike on May 4, 2025, near Ben Gurion Airport, which also evaded interception, injuring eight and halting flights. The failure of Israel’s defenses in these incidents highlights vulnerabilities against hypersonic and stealth missiles, as claimed by the Houthis. Israel has vowed strong retaliation, and the situation remains volatile, with regional tensions high.
