Kajol Shares Hilarious Insights on Fighting with Daughter Nysa: Dining Table Drama and Witty Comebacks

MUMBAI, June 19, 2025 – Bollywood star Kajol, currently promoting her mythological horror film Maa, opened up about her lively relationship with her 22-year-old daughter, Nysa Devgn, in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble. Known for her candid personality, Kajol revealed that most of her arguments with Nysa happen at the dining table, often over food, showcasing their close yet spirited mother-daughter bond.

“Let me tell you, most of the fights between me and my kids have happened at the dining table. So yes, at the dining table, there have been so many arguments,” Kajol shared, laughing. She recounted a pivotal moment when Nysa, with her signature wit, put an end to one such disagreement. “Nysa looked at me and said, ‘Mom, just relax. I know what I’m doing, and I’ll eat when I’m hungry.’ And I looked at her and thought, yes, she will eat when she’s hungry. She’s lived in a boarding school, gone to London. She’s still alive and doing fine. She’s happy, she’s thriving, so clearly, she’s done something right.” Kajol admitted this exchange taught her to ease up, realizing Nysa’s independence.

Kajol, married to actor-producer Ajay Devgn since 1999, also shared a previous anecdote on Instagram Stories about Nysa’s sharp humor. When Kajol told Nysa to “check her attitude,” Nysa quipped, “For complaints about attitude, please contact the manufacturer,” leaving Kajol amused and impressed. “Well played, well played!” Kajol wrote, highlighting their playful banter.

In another interview with Instant Bollywood, Kajol revealed Nysa’s thoughts on future motherhood, echoing a conversation with her own mother, Tanuja. “My mother used to say, ‘I hope you have a daughter like yourself.’ I told Nysa the same, and she said, ‘No, I’m having sons because I don’t think I can handle a daughter like me,’” Kajol recounted, laughing. Nysa believes “sons are easy” to manage, a perspective Kajol finds both funny and telling of her daughter’s self-awareness.

Beyond the dining table spats, Kajol emphasized her efforts to foster an open relationship with Nysa, who has studied in Singapore, Switzerland, and London. In an NDTV interview, she addressed the challenges of raising a daughter in India, noting, “I keep reminding her this is India. You can’t just wear anything and go out. You have to be careful.” Kajol acknowledged the gender divide, contrasting Nysa’s restrictions with the freedom her 14-year-old son, Yug, enjoys, calling it an “unfair” reality she prepares Nysa to navigate.

Kajol also guides Nysa on handling social media trolling, a frequent issue for the star kid. Speaking to Hindustan Times, she advised, “If you have a thousand comments, 999 are saying ‘she is amazing,’ ‘she is beautiful.’ Concentrate on that and don’t think too much about the 0.1% who are talking like that.” This wisdom reflects Kajol’s protective yet pragmatic approach to motherhood.

Despite rumors of a Bollywood debut, Kajol clarified at News18’s Rising Bharat Summit 2025 that Nysa, who is studying International Hospitality at Switzerland’s Glion Institute, has no plans to enter the film industry. “She’s 22, and she’s made up her mind that she isn’t interested in Bollywood currently,” Kajol said, quashing speculation fueled by Nysa’s appearances in Manish Malhotra designs.

From dining table debates to social media quips, Kajol and Nysa’s relationship is a blend of love, learning, and laughter, with Nysa’s quick wit keeping her mother on her toes. As Kajol gears up for Maa’s release on June 27, 2025, her stories of motherhood continue to resonate with fans.
