Madhu Chopra, mother of global icon Priyanka Chopra, recently opened up about the family’s sacrifices to support her daughter’s rise from Bareilly to Bollywood and Hollywood. In a June 17, 2025, interview on Debina Bonnerjee’s YouTube show, Madhu revealed the tough decision to leave their hometown and hospital business to relocate to Mumbai for Priyanka’s acting career. She admitted that the focus on Priyanka’s ambitions led to initial neglect of her son, Siddharth Chopra, who was sent to the U.S. to live with family during the transition. “Priyanka’s career came before everything else,” Madhu said, noting Siddharth’s independence in managing his education despite the oversight.
Madhu also reflected on Priyanka’s resilience, sharing how her daughter balanced grief over her father’s 2013 passing with her career, including filming Mary Kom.
