Medical groups concerned that RFK Jr. may dismiss panel of primary care experts

The American Medical Association and other medical groups are alarmed by reports that Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. may dismiss the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, an independent panel of primary care experts. The concern stems from Kennedy’s previous action of replacing a CDC vaccine advisory committee with individuals lacking relevant expertise, raising fears of similar moves with the USPSTF, which advises on critical preventive measures like cancer screenings. Dr. Bobby Mukkamala, AMA president, expressed deep concern, citing a pattern of undermining expert panels. The plan, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, has not been independently confirmed by NPR.
