On July 28, 2025, NATO aircraft, including Polish and Swedish fighter jets, were scrambled in response to a large-scale Russian drone and missile attack on Ukraine. The assault involved 324 drones and seven missiles targeting various Ukrainian regions, particularly near the Polish border. A Russian drone also crossed into Lithuania, prompting the NATO response. Polish forces activated air defenses and radar systems, maintaining high alert for about three hours. No Russian targets entered Polish airspace, and operations returned to normal after the threat subsided. Ukraine neutralized many of the incoming drones and missiles, with damage reported across multiple regions.
