Marcus Morris Sr., a 13-year NBA veteran, was arrested in Florida on July 27, 2025, on a felony fraud charge related to unpaid casino debts. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Morris allegedly obtained $115,000 from the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in May 2024 and $150,000 from the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino in June 2024 through bad checks that bounced due to insufficient funds. Two separate arrest warrants were issued in Nevada over these claims. Morris was detained at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and has been held without bond as of July 29, 2025, awaiting extradition. His agent, Yony Noy, and twin brother, Markieff Morris, have disputed the fraud narrative, claiming the issue stems from unpaid casino markers, not intentional fraud. Noy called the situation “absolute insanity,” emphasizing that unpaid markers over $1,200 can lead to felony charges under Nevada law, treated as equivalent to writing bad checks. Morris’s legal team argued for his release to address the debts, but bond was denied.
