NIPOST partners with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to improve international mail delivery services

On May 12, 2025, the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) announced a direct international mail partnership with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to enhance its logistics and international mail delivery services. This milestone, revealed by NIPOST Postmaster-General/CEO Tola Odeyemi via her X account, marks the first such collaboration in years, eliminating reliance on third-party handlers. The partnership leverages KLM’s global network, spanning over 200 countries, to ensure faster, more reliable deliveries with reduced risks of loss or damage and lower handling charges.

Odeyemi highlighted that the deal was made possible by NIPOST’s efforts to clear longstanding debts owed to international carriers, rebuilding global trust. The collaboration aligns with NIPOST’s broader restructuring under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, which has driven a 275% revenue increase in 2024 through measures like plugging revenue leakages and deploying PoS terminals. This partnership is seen as a step toward further international collaborations, with Odeyemi noting it as “the first of many doors that will reopen.”
