On the Saturday of the Jubilee: the night when a million young people danced and sang in Tor Vergata

On Saturday, August 2, 2025, the Youth Jubilee in Rome culminated in a vibrant prayer vigil at Tor Vergata, where an estimated one million young pilgrims from 146 countries gathered. The day began at 9:00 AM with the gates opening, and from 2:00 PM, the stage hosted music, dance, and testimonies from artists like Sergio Bernal Alonso, Matt Maher, Il Volo, and The Sun, creating a festive atmosphere likened to a Catholic “Woodstock.” Young people sang in multiple languages, played guitars, and danced, with performances by nearly two dozen religious bands filling the air with joy. Pope Leo XIV arrived by helicopter at 7:30 PM, greeted by cheering crowds as he rode through in the popemobile. The vigil, starting at 8:30 PM, included a question-and-answer session with three young people from Italy, Mexico, and the United States, followed by Eucharistic Adoration and prayers in languages like French, English, Spanish, and more. The crowd, spread across a 521,400-square-meter area, spent the night under the stars with sleeping bags, celebrating faith and unity.
