Breaking: Patriots DT Christian Barmore Charged with Misdemeanor Assault and Battery in Domestic Incident
New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery on a family/household member, stemming from an alleged domestic incident on August 8, 2025, at his home in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The 26-year-old Pro Bowl-caliber lineman denies the allegations through his attorney, with arraignment scheduled for February 3, 2026—just days before Super Bowl LX.
According to court documents from Attleboro District Court, the accuser—a woman in a prior relationship with Barmore and mother of their 2-year-old child—alleged an argument over air conditioning and food escalated. She claimed Barmore grabbed her phone as she tried to leave, then threw her to the floor when she attempted to scream for help. Bruises were documented, and the incident reportedly occurred in front of their daughter. The woman initially hesitated to press charges, citing fear of retaliation, but proceeded in September; a criminal complaint issued on December 16.
Barmore’s attorney, David Meier, stated: “We are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that no criminal conduct took place… We expect that this personal matter will be resolved in the near future and both parties will move forward together.”
The Patriots responded: “We were made aware at the time of the incident and informed the NFL in a timely manner. The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely… and cooperate fully with the league.”
The NFL confirmed the matter is under review per its Personal Conduct Policy but noted Barmore remains eligible to play. Head coach Mike Vrabel addressed the media, emphasizing focus on the upcoming Week 18 game against the Dolphins while calling the allegations “distractions” to handle appropriately.
This marks the second high-profile legal issue for a Patriots star in as many days, following wide receiver Stefon Diggs’ felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault charges from a separate incident. Both players are represented by Meier.
Barmore, a 2021 second-round pick from Alabama, has been a defensive cornerstone, playing all 16 games in 2025 with strong production despite missing much of 2024 due to blood clots.
For U.S. football fans, this Christian Barmore assault and battery charge adds off-field uncertainty to a playoff-bound Patriots team eyeing a deep run. As the legal process unfolds, it spotlights NFL protocols on player conduct amid a successful on-field season.
This Patriots Christian Barmore domestic assault charge development continues to evolve, with the team prioritizing compliance and performance heading into the postseason.
