‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Star, 27, Dies During Filming

Drag Race Philippines Star Misua Dies Suddenly at 27 During Season 4 Filming

Misua Drag Race death has shocked the global drag community after the talented Filipino queen, set to compete on Season 4 of Drag Race Philippines, passed away at just 27 years old. The rising star, known offstage as Jason Elvie Ty, died in her sleep on the morning of April 2, 2026, prompting production to pause immediately.

World of Wonder, the production company behind the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise, shared the heartbreaking news via Instagram on April 3. “We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented Queen set to appear on season four of Drag Race Philippines passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2,” the statement read. “She brought light, artistry, and joy to those around her, and she will be deeply missed.”

The post added that filming has been halted to support the cast and crew during this difficult time. Producers remain in contact with Misua’s family, who have requested privacy as they grieve.

Misua, a drag performer from Cagayan de Oro, was praised for her creativity, fashion sense, and vibrant stage presence. She had built a strong local following through performances and was preparing to bring her unique style to an international audience on the hit series.

Tributes Pour In from Drag Race Family

Fellow queens quickly took to social media to honor Misua. Hannah Conda from RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under wrote, “Absolutely heartbreaking! My thoughts are with my Filo family. I love you all and sending my love! She was an absolute star!”

Blue Hydrangea, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World, added, “Devastating! Sending all my love to everyone involved.”

Misua’s family also shared a touching tribute, remembering her as “Jayson,” a beloved son, brother, friend, mentor, and star. “He will be greatly missed by his loving family and close friends,” they wrote.

No cause of death has been released at this time.

A Tragic Loss for the Drag Community

This marks another difficult moment for the Drag Race family, which has faced several losses in recent months. Misua’s sudden passing highlights the close-knit yet vulnerable nature of the drag world, where performers often become chosen family for one another.

For American fans of the franchise, the news serves as a reminder of the human stories behind the glamour and competition. Drag Race Philippines has gained a dedicated U.S. following for its bold talent and cultural flair, and Misua’s anticipated appearance had generated excitement ahead of the new season.

As the drag community mourns, many are sharing memories of Misua’s artistry and kindness. Supporters have changed profile icons and posted yellow hearts in her honor, celebrating the light she brought to stages and lives.

Production on Season 4 remains paused while the team processes the loss and supports those closest to Misua. Further updates are expected as more details emerge, but the focus right now remains on honoring her memory and respecting her family’s wishes for privacy.
