Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani Were the Original Choices for Blockbuster ‘Saiyaara’

In an interview, Suri shared that he envisioned Sidharth and Kiara, who previously won hearts with their sizzling chemistry in the 2021 war drama Shershaah, as the perfect fit for Saiyaara. “We had Sidharth and Kiara in mind because their on-screen magic in Shershaah was undeniable,” Suri said. “Their real-life romance also added an authentic spark that we thought would elevate the film.” However, negotiations fell through, and producer Aditya Chopra suggested a bold shift to cast fresh faces to capture the raw, youthful essence of the love story. “Aditya told me the film wouldn’t work unless the leads felt young and raw. He encouraged me to take a chance, and I’m glad we did,” Suri added.
The decision to go with newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda proved to be a masterstroke, as Saiyaara has become one of the biggest hits of 2025, resonating with audiences for its heartfelt narrative and fresh energy. Fans, however, can’t help but wonder what Sidharth and Kiara’s version of the film would have looked like, given their proven track record of portraying intense, romantic roles.
