Sikandar Box Office Collection Day 5: Salman Khan’s Eid Release Sees Sharp Decline

Mumbai, April 3, 2025 – Sikandar, the Salman Khan-led action drama directed by A.R. Murugadoss, has recorded a significant drop in its box office earnings on its fifth day, Thursday, April 3. After a promising start over the Eid weekend, the film’s collections have tapered off sharply midweek, reflecting mixed reviews and waning audience momentum. According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, Sikandar earned approximately ₹6 crore net in India on Day 5, bringing its total domestic net collection to ₹90.25 crore after five days.

Day 5 Performance

The film, which opened on Sunday, March 30, coinciding with pre-Eid festivities, saw a decent debut with ₹26 crore net, followed by a slight uptick to ₹29 crore net on Eid Monday, March 31. However, Tuesday, April 1, marked a 32.76% dip to ₹19.5 crore net, and Wednesday, April 2, saw collections fall further to ₹9.75 crore net—a 50% drop from the previous day. Day 5’s early figures of ₹6 crore net indicate another steep decline of roughly 38.5%, with occupancy plummeting to an overall 7.42% in Hindi screenings nationwide.

Sacnilk reports that Thursday’s Hindi (2D) occupancy broke down as follows: morning shows at 4.74%, afternoon shows at 8.17%, evening shows at 9.35%, and night shows registering a near-empty 0%. “The film sees a BIG DROP today, with a DISAPPOINTING TREND so far,” noted a post on X from Addatoday, though it highlighted a silver lining: Sikandar has crossed the ₹100 crore net mark in India when adjusted for gross figures (₹106.25 crore).

Box Office Breakdown

Here’s a day-wise snapshot of Sikandar’s India net collections, based on Sacnilk’s estimates:

  • Day 1 (Sunday, March 30): ₹26 crore
  • Day 2 (Monday, March 31): ₹29 crore
  • Day 3 (Tuesday, April 1): ₹19.5 crore
  • Day 4 (Wednesday, April 2): ₹9.75 crore
  • Day 5 (Thursday, April 3): ₹6 crore (early estimate)
  • Total India Net: ₹90.25 crore
  • Total India Gross: ₹106.25 crore
  • Worldwide Collection: ₹146.25 crore (including ₹40 crore overseas after four days)

Posts on X from @meJat32 suggest overseas earnings have also cooled, with Day 5 projected to add little to the $4.99 million (₹41.5 crore) amassed through Day 4, heading toward a lackluster $6-7 million finish globally.

A Disappointing Trend

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Salman Khan Films, Sikandar—starring Khan alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar—carried high expectations with a reported budget of ₹200 crore (excluding Khan’s fee). Pre-release hype pegged it as a potential record-breaker, with X user @filmIIentran forecasting a ₹600 crore-plus lifetime haul in India. Yet, the film’s trajectory suggests it may struggle to hit even half that mark.

Critics have been lukewarm, with The Indian Express awarding 1.5 stars and slamming its “dull” screenplay, while fans on X oscillate between praise for Khan’s “swag” and disappointment over an “outdated” plot. The film’s Day 1 haul of ₹26 crore lagged behind Khan’s past Eid openers like Tiger 3 (₹44.5 crore) and Sultan (₹36.54 crore), and it failed to topple 2025’s biggest opener, Chhaava (₹31 crore). Piracy issues—an HD leak surfaced hours before release—may have further dented its performance.

What Lies Ahead?

With a five-day net total of ₹90.25 crore, Sikandar has recouped less than half its budget domestically and sits at ₹146.25 crore worldwide. To be deemed a hit, analysts suggest it needs ₹200 crore net in India—a tall order given its current 50-60% daily drops. While it has outpaced Khan’s last Eid flop, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (₹15 crore opening), it trails far behind benchmarks like Pushpa 2’s ₹73.5 crore Hindi Day 3 alone.

As weekday declines deepen, Sikandar’s fate hinges on weekend recovery. For now, its box office run resembles its titular hero—starting strong but stumbling under pressure, leaving Salman Khan’s Eid legacy at a crossroads.
