Diwali Sale India that is Bharat: Coloniality, Civilisation, Constitution

Diwali Sale India that is Bharat: Coloniality, Civilisation, Constitution

India, That Is Bharat, the first book of a comprehensive trilogy, explores the influence of European ‘colonial consciousness’ (or ‘coloniality’), in particular its religious and racial roots, on Bharat as the successor state to the Indic civilisation and the origins of the Indian Constitution. It lays the foundation for its sequels by covering the period between the Age of Discovery, marked by Christopher Columbus’ expedition in 1492, and the reshaping of Bharat through a British-made constitution-the Government of India Act of 1919. This includes international developments leading to the founding of the League of Nations by Western powers that tangibly impacted this journey. Further, this work also traces the origins of seemingly universal constructs such as ‘toleration’, ‘secularism’ and ‘humanism’ to Christian political theology. Their subsequent role in subverting the indigenous Indic consciousness through a secularised and universalised Reformation, that is, constitutionalism, is examined. It also puts forth the concept of Middle Eastern coloniality, which preceded its European variant and allies with it in the context of Bharat to advance their shared antipathy towards the Indic worldview. In order to liberate Bharat’s distinctive indigeneity, ‘decoloniality’ is presented as a civilisational imperative in the spheres of nature, religion, culture, history, education, language and, crucially, in the realm of constitutionalism.

Diwali Sale So All Is Peace

Diwali Sale So All Is Peace

But sit down, breathe deep, and ask a woman. Any woman. They are there.
When twin sisters Layla and Tanya are found starving in their upmarket apartment, there is frenzy in the media. How often does one find two striking, twenty-something women, one half-dead, the other not speaking, living in a state of disrepair and chaos, for no apparent reason? Theories about them are rampant, but disillusioned journalist Raman is loath to follow the story. That is, until Tanya begins to talk to him, and the darker truth behind the sisters’ lives starts to unravel.
A richly atmospheric, deeply claustrophobic story with a stunning denouement, of two women confronting the everyday realities of their city and country, So all is Peace provides an unflinching insight into love, lust, fear, grief, and the decisions we make, through a cast of sharply drawn characters brought together by an unspoken wrong.

Diwali Sale Believer’s Dilemma: Vajpayee and the Hindu Right’s Path to Power, 1977–2018

Diwali Sale Believer’s Dilemma: Vajpayee and the Hindu Right’s Path to Power, 1977–2018

**Believer’s Dilemma **concludes Abhishek Choudhary’s landmark two-part study of Atal Behari Vajpayee (1924–2018), the RSS propagandist who established himself as an imaginative moderate, drawing the Hindu Right from the fringes to displace Congress as the natural party of power.

This magisterial second volume combines new archival documents with revealing interviews to present an unsentimental history of India’s ongoing political moment, beginning with the short-lived Janata coalition and the Vajpayee–Morarji Desai tussle to steer foreign policy; Mrs Gandhi’s ad-hocism in Assam, Punjab and Kashmir; Rajiv’s cynical turn toward the Hindu vote; Vajpayee’s failure to secularize the newborn BJP; the Sangh Parivar’s meticulous plan to raze the Babri, and much more. Choudhary traces these machinations of the previous half-century to cast fresh light on major events from Vajpayee’s term in office (1998–2004), including his desperation to conduct nuclear tests; his cold pragmatism and heartbreak in negotiating with Pakistan and China; his wide range of emotional strengths, which allowed him to manage an unwieldy thirteen-party coalition and turn India into a multi-party democracy; his role in propping India up as a potential superpower and embedding capitalist aspiration into its socio-political imagination.

Mapping the evolution of the Sangh Parivar, this book reveals a deeper pattern in Vajpayee’s character: his reflexive loyalty to his ideological family in moments of crisis – be it the 1983 Assam riots, the 1992 Babri aftermath, the 2002 Gujarat pogrom, or his tragic last public appearance in 2008, when the stroke-battered patriarch voted against the Indo-US nuclear deal he had earlier helped seed.

A decade in the making, **Believer’s Dilemma is an original and psychologically insightful take on the Hindu Right and its first prime minister.**

Diwali Sale 1984

Published in the summer of 1949, George Orwell?s nineteen Eighty-Four is one of the most definitive texts of modern literature. Set in Oceania, one of the three inter-continental superstate that divided the world among themselves after a global war, Orwell?s masterful critique of the political structures of the time, works itself out through the story of Winston Smith, a man caught in the webs of a dystopian future, and his clandestine love affair with Julia, a young woman he meets during the course of his work for the government. As much as it is an entertaining read, nineteen Eighty-Four is also a brilliant, and more importantly, a timeless satirical attack on the social and political structures of the world.

Diwali Sale The India Way : Strategies for an Uncertain World

Diwali Sale The India Way : Strategies for an Uncertain World

The decade from the 2008 global financial crisis to the 2020 coronavirus pandemic has seen a real transformation of the world order. The very nature of international relations and its rules are changing before our eyes. For India, this means optimal relationships with all the major powers to best advance its goals. It also requires a bolder and non-reciprocal approach to its neighbourhood. A global footprint is now in the making that leverages India”s greater capability and relevance, as well as its unique diaspora. This era of global upheaval entails greater expectations from India, putting it on the path to becoming a leading power. In The India Way, S. Jaishankar, India”s Minister of External Affairs, analyses these challenges and spells out possible policy responses. He places this thinking in the context of history and tradition, appropriate for a civilizational power that seeks to reclaim its place on the world stage.

Buy Now Operation SINDOOR: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan (The Most Definitive Account of Operation SINDOOR by Former DG Defence Intelligence Agency)

A definitive account of India’s decisive military response to Pakistan-backed terrorism ― told by Lt Gen K.J.S. Dhillon, one of India’s most respected Army commanders.

On 22 April 2025, the Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam, south Kashmir, witnessed a horrifying attack when heavily armed terrorists from the Resistance Front, a proxy of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), fully sponsored by the Pakistan Army and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), shattered its serenity with gunfire, killing twenty-six innocent individuals and injuring several others. The victims included newlyweds, elderly parents and solo trekkers. A Hindu professor narrowly escaped death by reciting the kalma, a Christian sacrificed his life to save his family and a local Muslim was killed while saving others. This was an attempt to rupture India’s religious harmony and create widespread outrage in the country.

India chose to respond to this incident, which shook not just the nation but the world, with Operation SINDOOR, showcasing its military modernization and might. The mission targeted terror camps, including the ones in Bahawalpur and Muridke, linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and LeT, respectively, and terrorist launch pads in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. India’s response demonstrated military professionalism, technological maturity and diplomatic sagacity, ensuring regional stability while delivering a powerful message against Pakistan and its terror factory. This book carries minute details and a blow-by-blow account of the ‘Four-Day War’ between two hostile nuclear powers. The author underscores the intelligent use of media and social media in the battle of narratives, discusses the ‘new normal’ and emerging rules of engagement, and suggests a way forward.

Offering hitherto unrevealed information, Lt Gen. ‘Tiny’ Dhillon (Retd) opens a window to Operation SINDOOR, a testament to the strength of the Indian military and the unity of India when confronted with an adverse situation. With visuals from the destroyed target areas, this book is a powerful reminder of the impact of terrorism and the enduring hope for peace and justice.

Operation SINDOOR is a must-read for everyone.
