Tata Motors Hits All-Time High with September Sales Surge

Tata Motors is riding high after posting its best-ever monthly sales in September 2025. The company moved 60,907 passenger vehicles, a solid 47% jump from the 41,313 sold the year before. It’s clear the mix of holiday shopping buzz, tweaks to GST pricing, and a stronger lineup of electric options is paying off big time.

Breaking it down, sales at home hit 59,667 units, up about 45% from last September. Overseas, they shipped out 1,240 vehicles—nearly four times more than the 250 from a year ago. Electric models really stole the show, with 9,191 units finding buyers, almost doubling the 4,680 from September 2024. Compared to August, overall sales climbed 45%, adding over 18,000 more units to the tally.

Looking at the full second quarter of fiscal 2026, Tata clocked 144,397 passenger vehicles, a 10% increase over the same period last year. Home sales made up 140,189 of those, up 8%, while exports soared to 4,208—a whopping 411% gain. EVs kept the momentum going, selling 24,855 units in the quarter, 59% more than before.

Over in commercial vehicles, September brought 35,862 units, a 19% rise from 30,032 the prior year. Domestic figures were 33,148, up 16%, and exports nearly doubled to 2,714. Trucks in the heavy category sold 9,870, a modest 6% bump; intermediate light and medium ones hit 6,066, up 13%; passenger carriers stayed steady at 3,102; and small cargo and pickups jumped 30% to 14,110.

For the quarter, commercial sales totaled 94,681, 12% ahead of last year’s 84,281. Domestic was up 9% to 87,061, exports 75% to 7,620. Medium, heavy, and intermediate trucks alone reached 45,095 units in the quarter, from 39,433 before.

With prices easing under the new tax setup and holidays kicking off, expect Tata to keep this roll going. It’s a good sign for folks eyeing affordable rides, whether gas or electric.
