Luis Diaz’s impressive debut at Bayern Munich has made fans of Liverpool and Bayern proud, with Vincent Kompany expressing strong admiration for the Colombian wideman.Vincent Kompany has continued to sing Luis Diaz’s praises after Steven Gerrard told Liverpool to re-sign the winger. The former Porto star quit Anfield last summer for £65.5m.
And he has gone on to shine in the Bundesliga, with 23 goals and 18 assists this season, raising questions about whether his Bayern form is sustainable compared to his Liverpool days.
Bayern boss Kompany has understandably been full of praise and hailed the club’s transfer chiefs for managing to secure his signature.
After Bayern’s midweek Champions League win, Kompany highlighted Diaz’s exceptional skills and mentality, inspiring confidence in Liverpool fans about his potential impact.
“He brings a lot of energy to the team. You can only congratulate the club on signing such a player. He’s a great player for Bayern Munich.”

Kompany’s praise for Diaz comes after former Liverpool star Gerrard suggested that the winger, as well as Bayern Munich teammate Michael Olise, would be ideal replacements for the outgoing Mo Salah at Anfield.
“All day long,” he replied when asked on TNT Sports if he liked to see Olise at Liverpool. “But the problem is, why would he leave Bayern Munich? Big club, they’re challenging for the big honours, probably the strongest Bayern Munich team we’ve seen for a while.
While Gerrard mentioned Diaz as a potential Liverpool target, current reports suggest his focus remains on Bayern, leaving fans wondering if a return is realistic or if other transfers are imminent.
Former Crystal Palace star Olise is also in the middle of an eye-catching debut campaign in Bavaria. The Frenchman has an eye-watering 16 goals and 29 assists in all competitions this season.
With contracts until 2029 for Diaz and Olise, Liverpool faces a challenging summer to replace Salah and potentially other key players, prompting questions about their transfer strategy and targets.
He is set to be followed out of the Liverpool exit door by defender Andy Robertson, who has also announced his exit at the end of his own contract.
