JSW MG Motor India Lines Up 4 New Electric Cars to Boost EV Momentum After Windsor Success
JSW MG Motor India is gearing up for a major electric offensive with four new electric cars in the pipeline. This aggressive expansion comes as the brand’s popular MG Windsor EV continues to drive strong sales, having recently crossed 65,000 units with a significant portion coming from non-metro cities.
The upcoming lineup aims to strengthen MG’s presence across multiple segments — from affordable entry-level EVs to premium luxury offerings. Here are the key details of the four upcoming MG electric vehicles expected to launch in India later in 2026 and early 2027.
1. MG S5 EV – The ZS EV Replacement
The ageing MG ZS EV, one of India’s early mainstream electric SUVs, is due for a full generational update. The MG S5 EV is widely expected to take its place, with a likely launch in late 2026.
This mid-size premium electric SUV will be built on a modern Modular Scalable Platform and will feature a longer wheelbase (around 2,730 mm) for better interior space. It is expected to offer two battery options — approximately 49 kWh and 62-64 kWh — delivering a claimed range of up to 500 km on a single charge.
Power output is likely to be around 167 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Fast-charging capability could reach 139 kW DC, enabling a 10-80% charge in roughly 28 minutes. On the features front, buyers can look forward to a large 15.6-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and Level 2 ADAS.
Pricing is anticipated in the Rs 22-28 lakh range (ex-showroom), positioning it as a strong contender in the competitive mid-size EV SUV space.
2. MG 520 Eksion EV – Premium 7-Seater Electric SUV
MG is also preparing the electric version of its upcoming MG 520 (based on the Wuling Starlight 560 platform). While a plug-in hybrid variant is expected first, the full MG 520 EV will follow as a larger, more spacious electric SUV.
Priced around Rs 25-30 lakh, this model is likely to be positioned above the S5 EV and sold primarily through MG’s premium Select dealership network. It is expected to feature a 56.7 kWh battery pack, producing around 136 bhp and 200 Nm, with a range of approximately 500 km.
The 520 EV will target family buyers looking for a practical three-row electric SUV and will compete with models like the Mahindra XEV 9E, Tata Harrier EV, and Hyundai Creta Electric.
3. MG Binguo EV – Affordable Electric Hatchback
To tap into the entry-level EV segment, MG plans to introduce the Wuling Binguo EV-based compact electric hatchback. This stylish, urban-focused model is expected to launch by late 2026 or early 2027.
With an attractive pricing target of Rs 8-12 lakh, the Binguo EV will directly rival the Tata Tiago.ev and Citroën eC3. It will feature modern dual-tone styling and a sleek design. Internationally, it offers multiple battery options (17.3 kWh, 31.9 kWh, and 37.9 kWh) with ranges from 203 km to 410 km, paired with a motor producing around 100 bhp and 180 Nm.
This affordable EV is expected to appeal to first-time buyers and city commuters seeking low running costs and easy manoeuvrability.
4. MG IM6 – Flagship Premium Electric SUV
At the top end, MG will launch the IM6, its most premium electric SUV yet, around August or October 2026. Priced between Rs 60-70 lakh, this sleek, coupe-style luxury EV will be sold exclusively via the MG Select network and will sit alongside the Cyberster and M9 in the premium portfolio.
Internationally, the IM6 comes with a 100 kWh battery. The rear-wheel-drive version delivers 401 bhp and 500 Nm with up to 625 km range, while the all-wheel-drive dual-motor variant offers a massive 741 bhp and 802 Nm, with a range of around 505 km.
Design highlights include smooth, elegant lines and a modern silhouette. The interior is expected to feature a dual-screen setup, wireless connectivity, heated and ventilated seats, reclining rear seats, a panoramic glass roof, and a comprehensive ADAS suite with semi-autonomous driving capabilities.
It will go head-to-head with the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and BYD Sealion 7.
With these four new electric cars on the way, JSW MG Motor India is clearly aiming to cover every major EV segment and build on the strong momentum created by the Windsor EV. The brand’s focus on accessible pricing (including potential Battery-as-a-Service options), modern features, and varied range capabilities could significantly boost EV adoption in both metro and non-metro India.
