Jenelle Evans’ Ex Andrew Lewis Launches GoFundMe for Jace Custody Battle as Family Dispute Escalates
Andrew Lewis, the father of Jenelle Evans’ teenage son Jace, has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for legal fees and medical expenses as he and Jace’s grandmother Barbara Evans fight to regain custody of the 16-year-old.
In the fundraiser launched on March 30, 2026, Lewis claims that Jace has been hospitalized in a mental health facility since February and that Jenelle has refused to allow him to return home, despite living more than 2,000 miles away. He says both he and Barbara have been completely cut off from communicating with Jace and are seeking to bring him into what they describe as a more stable and loving environment.
Lewis states that they are facing “enormous” medical bills from Jace’s stay in the facility — costs they say they never wanted — along with mounting legal fees to challenge the current custody arrangement. He added that any extra funds raised would go toward Jace’s future medical needs.
Jenelle Evans Responds
Jenelle Evans quickly addressed the GoFundMe in a statement to TMZ:
“At this time, my son is FULLY covered by health insurance, and I AM currently handling and paying for all of his medical care. Additionally, this matter is not being fought out in court as suggested. We are scheduled to go through mediation, which is a more appropriate and constructive path focused on what’s best for our child. I will always prioritize my son’s well-being, stability, and privacy.”
The situation stems from an incident last month in which Jace allegedly pulled a gun on his grandmother Barbara. Sources say Barbara then called the police, leading to Jace being committed to a mental health facility. Barbara also reportedly informed Jenelle that she planned to seek court help in handling the situation.
This is the latest chapter in a long-running and highly publicized family drama involving Jenelle Evans, her mother Barbara, and her children. Jenelle has had multiple custody battles over the years, particularly involving her oldest son Jace, who has spent significant time living with Barbara.
As of now, the case is heading toward mediation rather than immediate court proceedings. Both sides claim to have Jace’s best interests at heart, but the public dispute — including the crowdfunding effort — has once again thrust the family into the spotlight.
The GoFundMe remains active, though Jenelle’s statement suggests she is covering medical costs through insurance and disputes the need for public fundraising.
The situation continues to develop, with many longtime Teen Mom fans expressing concern for Jace’s well-being amid the ongoing family conflict.
