Trump Looks Flustered as He Soaks Up a Standing Ovation — Seconds Later, All Eyes Drop and the Focus Isn’t on Him Anymore

Trump Hits the Links in Florida, High-Waisted Pants Spark Viral Memes Comparing Him to Steve Urkel

President Donald Trump took time away from the ongoing Iran conflict and domestic economic pressures to enjoy a weekend golf outing at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on March 28 and 29, 2026.

The 79-year-old president was seen arriving in a casual white golf shirt paired with black slacks and his signature white “47” cap. While patrons inside the members-only grill room gave him a standing ovation, social media users quickly zeroed in on his outfit — particularly how high his pants were pulled up above the waist.

Photos and videos from the visit quickly went viral, with many online commenters comparing Trump’s look to the famously high-waisted pants worn by Jaleel White’s character Steve Urkel on the 1990s sitcom Family Matters. Reactions ranged from humorous to critical:

  • “Please… I can’t… pants pulled to his nips.”
  • “Could he possibly pull his pants up any higher?”
  • “He looks like Steve Urkel with his pants pulled up like that.”

Some users joked that the high-waisted style was an attempt to hide his figure, while others questioned why the self-proclaimed 6’3″, 224-pound president appeared “disheveled” or “wrinkled” in the casual setting.

This is not the first time Trump’s golf attire has drawn attention. Similar viral moments occurred in late 2025 when photos of him in monogrammed shirts, high-rise trousers, and a MAGA hat circulated widely. Critics have frequently mocked his off-duty fashion choices, even as supporters at his properties continue to greet him enthusiastically.

During the weekend visit, Trump was also seen interacting with club members and briefly dancing as he entered the venue, drawing cheers from the crowd. However, online discourse quickly shifted focus to his clothing and the cost of his frequent trips to Florida.

A recent report estimated that American taxpayers have spent at least $101 million on travel and security for Trump’s more than 100 days spent at golf courses since his January 2025 inauguration.

The golf outing comes as the administration continues to face questions about the escalating Iran conflict, rising energy prices, and the broader cost-of-living challenges affecting Americans. Trump has maintained that golf helps him relax and think clearly during high-pressure periods.

While the president’s supporters view these weekend trips as a well-deserved break, critics argue they highlight a disconnect between the administration’s messaging on fiscal responsibility and the president’s personal habits.

As with many of Trump’s public appearances, the reaction remains sharply divided along partisan lines — with supporters celebrating his energy and critics focusing on optics.
